Background:
The module “Climate Adaptation, Resilience and Climate Finance in Rural India” (CAFRI MoEFCC II) is embedded in the DC program “Climate and environment in rural regions of India”. The program aims to improve the sustainable management of natural resources, minimize the risks of climate change, and increase productivity, income, and employment in rural areas by public and private sector interventions. The core problem is that climate policies, programs and financing mechanisms have not yet resulted in significant implementation of adaptation measures and in strengthening the climate resilience of vulnerable population groups, especially in rural India.
GIZ would like to hire a technical agency to develop & implement gender-transformative and risk informed framework, models on Agriculture contingency planning exercise s & water budgeting exercise/water security plans in Selected Villages of Bangra Block, Jhansi, Bundelkhand, UP, which has witnessed the most pronounced repercussions of recurrent monsoon failures in recent years.
This assignment main objective will primarily focus towards improve resilience of vulnerable communities to challenges of climate change by increasing availability of water for drinking in all seasons, conserving soil moisture, improving soil health and regenerating and conserving indigenous seed varieties through design, development & implementation of climate resilient models. In this context, the selected agency is expected to carry out following tasks within 2 Work packages as mentioned in the TOR:
Work Package 1: Design, Development & Implementation of 15 Gender Sensitive & Risk Informed Contingency Plans
Work package 2: Design Development & Implementation of 15 Gender Sensitive & Risk Informed Water Budgeting Exercise/Water Security Plans at Gram Panchayat Level
